Alas, another blog I present to you lovely readers,
Long story short, I suggested to make the costumes for this project, and make I shall. It would look so unnatural to be wearing T-Shirts and jeans in what is supposed to be a 50s styled film. It was a Friday evening, when I set out to get the fabrics. Stopping by my favorite Hobby Lobby at Dania Pointe. Stepping in the store and immediately, booking it to the fabric section. Since I was shopping for two I had my eyes peeled and my friend on the phone. It was quit the trip around the store. I had met an employee a few months back, named Ms. Rachel. A kind, elderly women. I stopped to talk to her, as she was always interested, in my projects. Of course I quickly, told her about this one. After inspecting around, To capture that 50s aesthetic, I found the classic vintage polka dots, in a soft yellow, for my piece and a vibrant red for my team mate. For the kimonos I found some bright, floras, that would go well for the art deco period at that time. Paired with a yellow belt, made from satin.
It took a while of walking around and picking up things I didn’t need to get the fabrics cut. I ended up getting at least 3 to 5 yards for each fabric. After that chaos about a day later. i began working on the kimono. I drafted the patterns and gave the instructions for my group. So far, the kimonos are finished and were a success. This leaves the 50s style skirts and blouses, which I cant wait to see the end results.
